What are cookies?
From wikipedia: "A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is usually a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user's web browser while a user is browsing a website. When the user browses the same website in the future, the data stored in the cookie can be retrieved by the website to notify the website of the user's previous activity."
Why use cookies?
Within Kamala, cookies are used to store your session, and track your movements within Kamala. Each cookie is placed with a specific reason and for a specific goal. Without cookies, you would not be able to stay logged in, set preferences or change language.
Cookies used by Kamala
- The moment you enter a Kamala page, a cookie (JSESSIONID) will be created that holds your unique session ID.This allows the server to recognize you as a user, and allows Kamala to make use of language settings and other preferences.
- When you login using the "remember me" option, a cookie (rememberMe) will be created that holds a key that will automatically log you in again if your session should expire.
- To track the usage of Kamala, we use Google Analytics. Google Analytics will create several cookies (names beginning with __utm) to keep track of who you are. The statistics gathered using these cookies helps us to analyze and improve Kamala.
All cookies used by Kamala are first party cookies. This means that whatever data is stored in them can only be used by Kamala. We can therefore guarantee that your privacy is safeguarded.
